We have static cling window decals. There are clear with white
letters. They go on the inside of your window and are viewed
on the outside. Similar to the oil change decals except much
tougher material and larger (12" x 3").

They say:

Tried, True and FORD Blue
www.ford-trucks.com

Go to:
http://www.ford-trucks.com/products/index.html

for a preview. Prices:

1/$3.50, 2/$6.75, 3/$10.00, 4 or more $3.00 each, shipping is
included.

If you ever wondered how we offer the lists and the web site
service for free, we do it by selling the stickers, a restoration
resources guide for older trucks and magazine subscriptions
through Electronic Newstand. It helps soften the blow of our
monthly expenses.

Anyways, no more sales pitches. I normally keep this stuff
off the lists but someone asked....

Subject: FTE 80-96 - Exhaust systems

I've got to replace the exhaust system from the cat back on my '90 F150
4.9L. There has been lots of discussion on performance systems but I'm
just looking to go with stock replacement parts. Ford's prices are too
high. Autozone offers Merimont (spelling?) parts and Advance Auto
offers Walker parts. Does anyone have experience with either of these?
Do they come with hangers welded on that go into the original rubber
blocks? Any better suggestions for an inexpensive stock exhaust system?
Any help would be appreciated.

I posted the following question a couple of weeks ago with no response.
I'll ask again a little more specifically;

While replacing the water pump on my '90 F150 4.9L six, I noticed that
the fan clutch was leaking a little bit of silicone (I think) around the
thermal spring on the front. Should the clutch be replaced? The clutch
seems to work normally and turn freely. I heard somewhere that when
replacing either the pump or fan clutch it is a good idea to replace the
other. Is this true?

Thanks,
David

Rick,

The place is Mr. G's Rechromed Plastic, 5613 Elliott Reeder Rd., Fort Worth=
,
TX 76117 Their phone number is 817-838-3501, the fax number is
817-831-0638.

I have their catalogs (somewhere, I pulled this info from Hemmings) and I=20
have
had them to do some work for me. I'm redoing a '70 Torino GT and they
rechromed and detailed (repainted the correct black and argent paint)
my Cluster guages, Guage surrounds and A/C registers and they looked
brand new when I got them back. I believe they had 3 catalogs. One for
their rechrome service, one for their fasteners and one for ??? (I can't
remember). They were not the friendliest people, but they did good work
for me. As long as I get the craftsmanship I want, I can live with the=20
other.

As far as I know they don't have a web site. None listed anyway.

Hope this helps!

Ted,
Never heard of it, but catalog sounds cool. Is there a website.
Maybe you'll run across the address or phone# at home.

Subject: FTE 80-96 - Hello

I'm new to the list, so HELLO everybody.

I have a 1993 F150 XLT/5.0L/AOD/3.55 Non-Limited Slip/Trailer Tow
package. I bought it used, so I don't have much history on it.
I am a long time 1976 F250 user, and I just got this F150.

Just wondering, after reading the list for a couple of days, if anyone
has come across this.

My trans shifts from 1 to 2 and drops only 200 RPM, then from 2 to 3 it
drops about 700 RPM, from 3 to 4 it drops about 500 RPM.

The shift from 2 to 3 really bogs down the engine (DUH).

Is this normal, is it an effort at improved gas mileage, or is this a
problem?

The trans was either rebuilt or replaced before I got the truck,it has
on XYZ trans sticker on the inside driver door frame. The oil pan gasket
is clean (new) and the fluid is clean and clear.

Any insight would be great.

Thanks,

Jorge E. Ramirez

I've replaced one or the other (but not both at the same time) and never had
a problem with the other element failing shortly thereafter. If it's
leaking and you don't like the stuff flinging all over your engine
compartment, then replacing it sounds like a good idea.

What's more important is that it locks up when things heat up. A friend
with a Cougar had his fail. It was fine as long as he was moving, but as
soon as he stopped in traffic, the coolant temp would start to climb. New
fan clutch solved the problem.

That might be a good idea. I am not up on all my waxes and polishes and so
on, so what would you reccomend I buy. Napa has a huge selection from cheap
to pricey, will the cheaper stuff work ok? Like I said the truck is not all
that "new looking" but I don't want to make it worse. As for the paint,
none of the hardware stores can come close, so Ford is the only option, and
I would still have to either remove the stripes or paint on them.

Thanks
Casey Vandor

>>>>>>>
That actually doesn't sound like a bad price. Although that's probably
enough to
repaint your entire truck. Can you get it in a pint? You should also be
able to
find some one to custom mix you a pint. But before you go through all that,
did you
try wet sanding the area lightly with 1000 or 1500 sand paper? A lot of
times you
can remove imperfections that way. Just follow it up with a good buffing
compound (a
light grit) and then finish with some glaze.

Hi everyone
I was wondering if anyone has ever been on the killer lake trail.
I heard about this trail in an artical i found on the internet at www.4x4now.com
The Article didn't say much about it's actual location. I have tried to find it
on numerous maps with no luck. If anyone has any information that could help
me i would appreciate it very much.
Thanks in advance.

JJ/Rae,
I have a 85 full size Bronco w/ duel Rancho RS5000 in front and a
Rancho steering stabilizer. "The Beast" is lifted 6" (Superlift) and has
16/35-15 Interco (Super Swamper)Boggers. I have no problems with a single
stabilizer. As far as the question about Rancho vs. Cepek stabilizer , I
worked for a shop that specialized in 4x4's and we found no difference
other than name) in the two stabilizers.
