That was me and I plan on trying to get there. Yeah, with
an '83 that should make it easy. From '81 - '87 models
should be the same. Hell, the ones on my bronco should
work. But don't get any ideas. :-)

Sometimes your mileage is actually worse with large tires and short gears because you
are so far out of the top of the torque curve.

Subject: FTE 80-96 - 4wd Problems

I have a 1990 Bronco II that suffered from the same problem with the transfer
case. It was dropping in and out of 4L, no apparent reason. Took it to the
local Ford dealer, took them a month and a half and $7000 to figure out it was
the motor that engaged the 4 wheel drive. Sounds like thats the trouble, have
them check it
