Then I find out after I got that stuff my distributor will not work with it!!!!!!!! It will run better than a stock V8 small block!! And it might run forever!!! I think I'll be pleased !!! GENO Geno, What brand parts did you end up getting for your truck and why didn't you stock distributor work with the new parts. Let me now how your truck turns out. I'm sure you will be pleased. Geno wrote, >Mike in order to do it right you need to take it to a GOOD shop!!! The gear mesh is very critical. If its not right your gears will just grind and burn up!!!! It takes a special tool and shims and now how!!! I had a mustang with a 8.8 rear end it had a 3.27 gear I had it changed to a 4.10. The gears cost $175.00 and installation labor was also $175.00 Is your truck 2wd or 4 wd???????? You have a 6 cylinder to, right? Geno, Yes, I6 and 2wd. It sound like taking it to a shop is probably the best choice since I've never done it before. I would hate to screw my truck up. Get a tired (150k+miles) IL6 to do that one in a 5600 pound truck..(wont do it I've tried) Ryan, No I never have had the privilege of driving a 292. Just my IL6 f-150 and 4.3L s-10. It sounds like a pretty serious truck. My not to tired 190k mile IL6 has been know to create a little smoke every once in awhile, but not nearly as much as yours by the sound of it. I would have to agree with you on the 5.0L statement too. I prefer later also, that's why I don't get involved in to many races. I was booted off, and couldn't seem to get back on until now. Any good arguments ? :-) If I left anybody hanging from when I got booted, then repost. Glad to be back. I do have a question for a friend. He has a F-150 with a 302. He is not getting any fire. What he has replaced is the ignition module and the stator in the distributor. Is there anything else he can check. The coil rarely goes out, but this may be a rare occassion. Any thing else to check/replace besides the coil. Thanx guys. - -- Thanks, Rick Wojo '83 Fsize BRONCO,Stock I-6,"The BROWN BULL",33x12.5x15-Mud Blasters '92 Mstng 5.0L '95 eclipse-Wife's(For Sale) = Ford Truck Enthusiasts ============================================== Send posts to: 80-96-list Send unsubscribe requests to: majordomo "unsubscribe 80-96-list" in the message body. ======================================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Jun 1998 11:54:48 EDT From: Croth2 Subject: FTE 80-96 - Catalytic converter I'm thinking of replacing the exhaust on my 89 F-150 4x4 5.0 It looks like it has two catalytic converters. This is somthing that I've been considering doing since i've got 3.08 gears in my F150. (funny that Ford insists on putting these gears in as std. when everyone seems to prefer 3.55s. I'm sure it's not saving them any money. After all, these are trucks, not high speed, highway sleds) Anyways, I was able to find a number of different pages but the one that really went into any detail was one about putting 3.55 gears into a mustang with 8.8" rearend. I'm looking for a combination of nice ride quality with a semi-aggressive tread pattern (it spends about 95% of the time on pavement). Any advice or experience on different brands with the F-150 trucks? Jon, My personal preference are Goodyear Wranglers or B F Goodrich All Terrains. Aggressive tread, relatively quiet on the street and I've never gotten stuck with either. The AT's are a little cheaper too. They come in 31x10.5r15 or even 32x11.5 or 10.5 r15. I've got the former and my buddy has the latter size. The latter look even better than mine. Cassetty" Subject: RE: FTE 80-96 - 300cid I-6 Performance? - Chad We don't do distributors right now, but our HP Annihiliator would be a good setup for you. Keep in mind that our coils are capacitive-discharge, and will not work with the stock ignition system. You would also need our multiple-spark-discharge ignition (once again, the HP). I don't have a spare coil, but I do have a spare HP Annihilator I could part with for a reasonable amount. ;-) Go here: http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/IgntSyst/IgntSyst.html Chad Cassetty, CNA/CNE Network Administrator Holley Performance Products P.O.
