Subject: FTE 80-96 - F-800 Won't Start

This is for you Medium duty guys out there...
Hi, yesterday, we were dumping a load of rock in our yard, and as we picked
the bed up, the truck was losing power and starting to die. We got the bed
up and unloaded, then the truck died. After letting the bed drop, the truck
will not start. There is plenty of fuel, and filter is not dry, but there
is only a small amount of gas in the bottom of the inline filter. In the
fuel tank, there was quite a bit of vacuum yesterday. We decided to let it
sit overnight. This morning, we again went out and tried to start it, and
only after 5 seconds on the starter, we stopped, got out and there was again
a tremendous amount of vaccuum built up in the fuel tank. My dad is also
stumped as to what is wrong. Any ideas? Seems to not be getting fuel, but
I might be missing something obvious here.

Well we did try putting a little gas in the carb, but that didnot work. We
finally called the guy we borrowed it from and he told us he would come out
and look. He showed up with half a cup of that Marvel Mystery Oil and did
the same thing we were doing with the gas and it started right up. I don't
know why, but it worked. I still don't know why there was so much vaccuum,
unless it was trying to prime itself, and there is no pressure inlet or
something to have equal pressure in and outside the tank?

- - New links added.
- - Several trucks added to pictorial. I added so many that I had to
split off the Ranger/Bronco II/Aerostar trucks into their own section.
- - Check out the News and Info section. Many new items contributed by
list members have been added.
- - Our history page has been updated.

Finally got a months back log of this stuff finished and can now
concentrate on the t-shirts, free web space, etc.

My 91 explorer with about 160,000.00 started to ping, so I change the plugs
and wires, not help, then I changed the HEGO and I got better mileage but
still pinging. Finally got a error 14 code so I took off the timing/engine
speed sensor cleaned the end and reinstalled, END of ping problem.

Subject: FTE 80-96 - FW: Star Tester

The manual for the 99 ford talks about a STAR tester to read the GEM codes.
Does anybody no of some reasonable cost tester/readers. For my 91 Explorer
had a little tester that hooked to the EEC port and flashed out the codes
and provide a code book, has help many times.
