Question, the rubber around the outside of the windows in the doors to keep water out is cracked and missing in some places. Can you purchase this and replace it yourself? Also the gasket around the rear window seems to have shrunk, can this also be replaced yourself? The trans does not slip or give any indication of problem as of yet. Another question i have is the transmission has a large 64 stamped on the top of the bell housing as well as small 64 in front of the pan. Any idea what this might be. windwaiver = Ford Truck Enthusiasts ============================================== Send posts to: 80-96-list Send unsubscribe requests to: majordomo "unsubscribe 80-96-list" in the message body. ======================================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 May 1998 08:34:18 -0600 From: "Giddens, Scott" Subject: FTE 80-96 - K&N FIPK Installation, & Performance I installed the K&N FIPK, PN 57-2503, last weekend and the instructions call for an additional application of K&N filter oil on top of the coat that it comes with. (If you take it off-road) After I ran the truck for 2 days I noticed a glob of oil on the drive way. Right off I knew it was the K&N filter > oil running out of the filter. I over did it. I suggest anyone doing this to just smear on the extra oil and not squirt it on per the instructions. I am pleased with the increase in performance. I also noticed a significant increase in noise as mentioned on the list many times. This is only unpleasant (when wife says "Damm!, listen to your truck") at full acceleration and under heavy load. I am convinced that some of this noise is somehow amplified by the high flow exhaust system. Just one problem now. Does anyone know the yellowline and redline RPMs for this truck? (Good one Ryan) The window channel pieces are about $20 and the scraper that goes along the inside and outside bottom of the window is about $50. Its no problem to install. I am NOT a JC Whitney advocate; most of the items they sell take advantage of the notable lack of taste of the general public. But there are *some* items that would be very hard to find other places. I took the truck in for a tsb on the rear drive shaft but that didn't really help. The dealer tells me it is a common noise with my type of transfer case. But I can't believe that's true. Does anyone out there with a similar truck have this trouble. I climbed under and checked the u-joints and they seem nice and tight but if I hold the small end of the rear drive shaft and twist the large end I hear a noise that is close to what I hear while driving. Thanks in advance for any help.
