Stu: Try the place that is going to do the painting for you, or the place that you are going to buy your paint. The place where i get mine lets me take the book and compare for myself. Many of the older colours may not show the formula for the specific year you are looking for, as they tend to get phased out as paint technology gets changed. The maroon colour of my truck is an example; It was'nt listed under 1970 ford truck, but i found the exact match listed under a 1979 trim colour. The PPG book i had even had chips and formulas for most engine colours well back into the 50's Whenever possible you should take colour chips outside and look at them in sunlight. Florescent or incandesent lights will never make colours look right. Forget about trying to judge a colour based on a scan or what you see on your computer monitor. There are just too many ways for the reproduction to be screwed up. I am piecing together an emissions system for a '79 f250 supercab w/460. (the original system was removed and discarded by PO, but is required for inspection purposes). I've been unable to find an air injection tube (metal tube, 3/8"-1/2" dia., bolts to rear of both heads). Anybody know where I might acquire one of these? The local ford dealer says he might be able to locate one for me, but at a price I'd like to avoid. :) TIA for your help. -Randy ------------------------------ From: WhtsUpDoc2 Date: Mon, 6 Nov 2000 19:27:15 EST Subject: Wiring Does anybody know where I can get a wiring harness for my alternator? Simple question: how do I remove the fan from a 1981 300 engine? I have a 300 that I'm prepping to replace the 240 in my '66 Club Wagon. The fan on the 300 is bent and I'd like to replace the water pump. This fan is different from early ones that I've encountered. It's not like most I've seen that have 4 or 5 bolts holding it to the snout of the water pump. It has a ring of small fins in front of the fan itself and has a small flat metal clip on the very end that I removed, and there is a screw that turns but does not come out. I don't have a shop manual that covers the 300 so please help me out. I remembered you had the 68 F100 that you're "restomoding". You probably saw my posts earlier that I found and bought a 56 F100 project truck. Pictures of the beginning project are on my website below. I've got a MII front end to install but am leaning to a Fatman unit so that I don't have to split the crossmember. The Mopar (Volare, Cordoba, etc.) seem to be beefier in my estimation; and I've not checked out the Aerostar suggestion that Steve gave me. I understand that there's even a Dodge Dakota conversion now available. For the prostreet option you want, there are some pretty awesome rear clips that can be installed. Check out www.artmorrison.com and go to the prostreet truck page.
