Web site: nearly working 100%. Chat is still broken. New list server: I have new live versions of the lists working on the new server. Digests are not working yet. As soon as the digests are working, all the lists will be moved over and instructions sent out. Commands and posting methods will remain the same, only the addresses will change. The web site form and FAQ will also be updated. As soon as the new lists are working then the following items will get the attention they desperately need: - -web site pictorial updates - -web site link updates - -free web space configuration. This shouldn't take long because the new server is geared towards this. Additional web space beyond the free 300k will be available for $1/month per meg (my cost). I have about 6 meg available for free web space (about 20 sites). There is a voting form on the web site concerning web space, your opinion counts. - -new chat script (tests confirm that this one shouldn't crash like the old one kept doing) - -t-shirt pictures will be reviewed and winners announced. Design won't begin until after the Pigeon Forge F100 Nationals in mid May. - -A vendors section will be added to the page. This will be a section that vendors can use to provide discounts to list members and page visitors. We will get a small amount which helps to cover our site expenses (they've gone up considerably) and pass on the majority of the discount to you. The Working Mat will be the first vendor in this section (they suggested this excellent idea). More information will be available after details are arranged. - -Pigeon Forge F100 Nationals Information (will be posted by this weekend) We will no longer pay for additional lists!! So the following will occur shortly: - -Vote for Performance/Hot Rodding truck mailing list. This ought to take some mail pressure off the 61-79 list (busiest list). - -Wanted/For Sale List: Additions to the Classifieds section on the web site will automatically get posted to this list. No more browsing of the ads page if you subscribe to this list! You'll know immediately if someone has the part you need plus you'll be able to respond directly to the person who posted the ad. This is a fun thread but I'll sit this dance out, cause I think that the best engine hasn't been built yet, and someday when I have more money then brain cells I'm going to build it completely from scratch... Its going to be a Titanium/carbon fiber composite, with metal matrix cam drive, 460 CI, high riser-side oilier, Long stroke DOHC, pent roofed canted 4 valve, double throwdown, DFI, Super-Turbocharged. variable displacement, altitude compensating, inverted draw-threw 3 stroke design, getting 100MPG using: Cow Magnets, Slick-50, and a Fish Carburetor, and I got some real trick stuff but if I tell ya about it I has to kill ya! and I Kant afford Bullets right now! Power? well I built it on my cyber dyno and at a hundred inches of water it made 1MHP per revolution no matter how high I tested it! And if you are even thinking about swapping to anything else you are even dumber then me! Brain cell count reference: I got 2 black Labs, that is 6 cells total. SWMBO knows this because, she says one cell runs the tail to the left, and another to the right, and the last one is for rolling in the stinkyest stuff found on the planet or closest to the dog! Just Sunday SWMBO said I got 3 cells mor-n my dogs, and she wer being complementary!! Must be right cause at the time I was welding beer cans together cuz my buddy said I couldn't! Laughing Muel. FTC and Required Safety Disclaimer: Never weld full beer cans, empty them into a suitable thirst repository first! I aint so dumb kuz I had this figured before SWMBO even came into the shop !-) +-------------- Ford Truck Enthusiasts - 1961 thru 1979 --------------+ | Send posts to fordtrucks61-79 | List removal information is on the web site. | +---------- Visit Our Web Site: http://www.ford-trucks.com/ ----------+ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 01:12:16, -0500 From: GEGK00A Subject: Re: Hard Hot Starting Thanks for all the replies to my post. My battery is new, but quality may be questionable. it is an auto parts store brand. However the cables and connections may require some close examination. Since in my '53 the battery is under the floor and the solenoid is under the hood not far from the starter, there are long cables between the battery and the engine compartment. I imagine this was not much of a problem with a flathead V8. I don't think that heat soaking applies here, it doesn't get worse before it gets better. It is bad immediatly after shutting down and improves with time. Although it could be that the aluminum manifold (Edelbrock) conducts too much heat to the carb (Carter). I will be glad to here any other opinions on this problem. Lets see. A dual pointless distributor, (no point but it doesn't it twice) dual splitfires per cylinder (quad sparkless) a turblower ( it sucks the exhaust out to add power) and underover drive pulleys.... click, click, click. Hey who do you think you are. A middle school student? :) >And if you are even thinking about swapping to anything else you are even >dumber then me! Cuz I'm special. Digests are not working yet. OK Gang. Lets start a thread that goes: >From Hank >Sorry for the long post but try it. It works! Man thanks Hank. I can't believe no one has thought of that before. I tried it on my truck and I can't believe the extra power and better mileage ta boot. It didn't cost a thing but the time to do it. Thanks again! It will drive the people on the digest crazy wondering what it was they missed! :) Deacon deconblu ============================= Nuke the unborn baby whales. ============================= Deacon's http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://home1.gte.net/deconblu/ +-------------- Ford Truck Enthusiasts - 1961 thru 1979 --------------+ | Send posts to fordtrucks61-79 | List removal information is on the web site. | +---------- Visit Our Web Site: http://www.ford-trucks.com/ ----------+ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 01:29:30 -0500 From: ballingr Subject: Re: 360/460 Apology Well said. FE's happen to spin my crank, they didn't get the street racing respect they could have, but I've seen them do some amazing stuff for an engine designed in the mid-fifties. A 385 series can make a mighty fine transplant too. There's no substitute for cubic inches. On the subject of weight, an FE loses more than the 385 with an aluminum intake, about 50 lbs, that would be about 580 lbs in fighting trim. That's not all that heavy, esp in a truck. They breathe really well for their displacement class. If Henry II hadn't been so conservative about street iron, the musclecar scene would have been a little different. Imagine a '67 390 Mustang with CJ heads, factory aluminum intake, and solid lifter cam. I've seen this combination home-built and man if they had only built it stock. It wouldn't have been nearly as rare as 428 CJ cars and could have been a real Saturday night special. >Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 20:19:46 EDT >From: Ractrk002 >Subject: Re: 360_460 Swap / Apology > >I don't understnd why anyone would have to apologize for wanting to swap >between FE's or 385's do what ever yah want. I'm going from a 302 to a 289 >for the hell of it and to prove I can get one to beat a BB Chevy.
