I am trying to replace the shift tube, in the steer column, on my 74 F250 (Automatic, Column mounted Shifter). I have the steering wheel and all related parts removed. I removed the snap ring holding the Flange/Selector Hub onto the steering column. Did everything the Ford Shop Manual told me to do, but I haven't been able to remove the Selector Hub From the Steering Column. Manual says to "Carefully work the flange and selector hub and wires over the upper end of the steering shaft." Anybody got any suggestions, tips, that can pass along?? (i have the same problem on my dodge) on my ford (33" tires, 6" lift), i use a tall bucket, and a length of 2"x2" angle iron. i put the angle iron into the bucket and it lays at an angle, coming close to the plug. the oil drains onto the angle iron and flows into the bucket. a piece of channel works even better, as the angle tends to want to fall to one side if i don't hold it. sleddog - ---------- From: Daniel H. If you do a Yahoo search for Stan's Headers (actually do an Alta Vista search) you'll find it. They seem very knowlegeable. Actually today I was CURSING my Blackjack headers. Sure, they have decent tubing and 1/4" plates, but... The starter quit on my M100 352 the other day. And I went to take it off today and man, I had to wrestle with it and the header to get the darned thing out. GRRRR!! Several scuffed knuckles later (and over an hour) I had it out and was not relishing the idea of putting the new one in. Apparently, Stan's Tri-Y has superior starter clearance. At least on the FE. Ask about the starter clearance on the 460, maybe Forrest Wolf can give you some more info on that one. Can't wait for my Stan's-equipped 410, and in my 4x4 no less (so as I can walk underneath to do maintenance). Almost makes me want to not rebuild anything just so I can enjoy fixing it.... 8^) marko in vancouver (bc) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 03 Jan 1998 22:58:19 -0800 From: danadeb To access the rest of this feature you must be a logged in Registered User Of Ford Truck Enthusiasts
