The price was over 45K. Sounds like a good price > to me! Just my 2 cents on the Centurion. It is an aftermarket conversion and having worked at a Ford Dealer that sold them I know they have their share of problems when it comes to repairs. Sorta like a van conversion. When (not if) they have weird problems that should be covered by warranty, everyone starts pointing fingers at each other, the dealer, FoMoCo and the conversion company. The end result is your truck in the shop for many days over and over for the same problem. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Nov 1997 10:54:12 -0600 From: Mike Schwall Subject: Re: VIN# Info At 10:24 PM 11/27/97 -0500, you wrote: >Here is the information off the door data plate. > F10ANP00189 Original equipment was: F10 = F100 A = 240ci I-6cyl 1bbl 150hp N = Norfolk, VA (Assembly Plant) Strange. The only engines available in that year are: 300ci I-6, 302ci V-8, 360ci V-8, and a 390ci V-8. A 351ci engine was not available in an F series truck until 1977. They have come in Rancheros since 1971 with a 2bbl (240hp) and 4bbl (285hp). Are you sure this is a '71? It looks like a '72. According to the color codes for '72, OM translates to green interior and white exterior. Look around for a set of numbers like this: 2 D 16, or 1 D 16. - Casting and Manufacturing date 1 means 1971, 2 means 1972 D means April (A = January, B=Feb., etc) 16 means the day of the month Looks like the '71 model year exceeded 12 months. That is why it seems strange. Especially Mike who was quite detailed on the decode. Real quick: To answer Berry Prices question, Yes the truck is two tone. I do know now that I have a rebuilt wrong motor in my truck and does anybody know if Sea foam green is more blue in color than green because the color of my truck is blue with white top. I will double check the body code on the data plate again. Again, Thanks to all for the responses. They seemed to live okay. The gear ratios may not be ideal for a truck as they are designed for performance car applications, but they can handle just about any level of torque you can put out in a street engine, if set up properly. Super Ford magazine has done several articles on cars featuring this transmission and 500+ horsepower. Also my 94 model ZF 5 speed has lived behind 600 lb-ft for 70,000 miles. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Nov 1997 20:50:03 -0800 From: danadeb Subject: chrome Well I got brave and pulled the chrome out of the windshield rubber. The chrome pieces are really well built. Even with some prying from a screwdriver not even a single ding! Ken no rust on the chrome! yea! Also I have seen a few 73-up and the windshield rubber is not as I had thought it was it looks exactly like the 72-down even the chrome looks the same! While I had the chrome half off I stepped back and took a look! The result: No chrome looks better!
