Now if I could only get her to make the conceptual leap to connect the numbers stamped on the tools with sizes. "Hand me a 9/16," I'll ask. She'll go through an entire roll of wrenches, peering at 1/4" and 1" wrenches, and then will hand me a 5/8". If so, you probably just don't have the wires on right. Click on the attachment below. Look at the engine photo(the 2nd photo) You can actually see the wire locations here. Look at page 63 in the Chilton Repair and Tune Up Guide Ford Bronco 1966-1986. If you are facing the front of the vehicle then number 1 cylinder is on your left in front. The timing mark can align twice with the no. 1 top dead center. One of these will be 180 degrees out and your rotor button should face the no. 6 cyl. position in the photo on page 63, at that time. If it is, then turn your crankshaft once more around to the timing marks to align them and you should see the rotor button go to no. 1 cyl. location in the photo on page 63. The rotation from the no. 1 cyl. for the firing order and the wire placement is to the left or counter clockwise. The firing order is 13726548 and trace each wire at the time you put it on the distributor to its correct sparkplug. Please note the locations of the two clips holding the cap down and no. 1 cyl. Daniel, if this is what you have then something else is wrong but the odds are against that. Its only a wire being crossed. If you come up with any additional information > please post it. Dale, I finally found my Mityvac book and here's what its got to say about your 4 port TVS and some more info on your 2 port TVS. >From the book - The two-port valve is used to stop EGR while the engine is cold. This type of thermal switch is needed to provide good driveability by limiting the entrance of EGR until the engine is warmed up. The three port valve is commonly called a cooling system PVS because it switches the vacuum source to the distributor from the ported vacuum source to the intake manifold vacuum source. This 3 port TVS operates at 235 degrees F. The four-port valve has been used in some Ford engines to bypass the spark delay valve and cut out the EGR system when the engine is cold. 2 Port EGR TVS color coding Green 68 degrees F Black 100 degrees F Plain or Blue 133 degrees F *When the engine reaches the specified temp then vacuum should pass through the valve. 4 Port TVS switch testing is as follows: This TVS operates at 125 degrees F Top two ports - When the engine is above 125 degrees F you should not see any vacuum passing between the top two ports. Below 125 degrees F you should see vacuum passing between the top two ports. Bottom two ports When the engine is cold (below 125 degrees F) no vacuum should pass between the lower two ports. When the engine is above 125 degrees F you should see vacuum passing between the lower two ports. If the valve fails any of the above tests...replace the valve. Your valve marked S, E, M, D indicates that the vacuum lines should be hooked up from the Spark port, EGR port, Manifold port, and Distributor. More than likely you should have a spark delay valve in line between the TVS and the distributor. You may also find a one way vacuum check valve somewhere in the system. I'm pretty sure your Motorcraft 2150 has the spark port on the side and the EGR port on the front. Your pollution cannister should have lines running from the fuel tank to the cannister...from carb fuel bowl vent to the cannister....another vacuum line running from a tee connection off of the EGR port on the carb to serve as a vacuum signal to operate the valve on top of the cannister....and finally a purge line running from the cannister up to a tee connection between the PCV valve and the PCV port on the carb. When the engine vacuum is strong enough it sends a signal to the cannister valve to open and send the excess fuel vapors from the fuel tank and carb bowl to the base of the carb at the PCV connection to be reburned. Hope this helps you get your vacuum system hooked up right and tested. Don Allen, Texas ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Nov 1997 12:00:03 -0600 From: garchap Subject: Cauretor for aod?
