I have one and even the bell housing from my 300 I6 will work on it. Remember, there is two types of small block bell housings. One for ten inch flywheels and one for eleven inch. Eleven inch locates the starter further out but bolt patterns are the same. Jon E. The size of the primary and secondary venturi are the same. No matter though it is still an excellent carburetor. There is an article in the January 1996 issue of Mustang Monthly that gives reference and maintenance information. If you would like I can fax a copy to you (or anyone else for that matter) if you are interested. Also go to the Pony Carburetors web site. They have some info there on this carb. http://www.ford-trucks.com//lc/lc.php?action=do&link=http://www.cybervillage.com/ponycarburetor FYI there are two sizes of this carburetor. There is a casting number on the front bowl under the accelerator rod. It should read either 1.08 or 1.12. The 1.08 is rated at 480 CFM and the 1.12 is 600 CFM. The 480 CFM are getting rare so finding one may be difficult. Jon E. To determine what number of teeth your speedo driven gear should be to make your speedo correct do the following: 1. Find out far off your speedo is. They recomend counting mile markers with odo. 2. Calculate percentage of error using this formula. percentage of error =miles shown driven on odo - miles actually driven / miles actually driven 3. Find the number of teeth required by using this formula. Number of teeth required=old tooth count X percentage of error + old tooth count Thats It. Somebody let me know if they use it and how it works. Jon E. A friend of mine had a 86 F-250 with a 460 and even with CA emissions it came W/O a catcon. It even ran on regular gas when it was sold here and didn't have a placard either on the instrument cluster or on the fuel filler doors that said "Unleaded Fuel Only". If your truck is missing the "UFO" messages then it probably came without a catcon. Maybe they were looking in the book for an F150 which would have come with a cat. Also, if your GVWR is over 8500 I can almost guarantee that it didn't come with a cat since I believe Ford trucks with this engine and weight rating didn't start using catcons until the engine recieved EFI in 1988. Maybe you need to find a more lax testing facility. I've been to more than one that all they did was clip onto the #1 plug wire and stick a probe in the tailpipe. No ckecking for catcons, or EGR, or PCV etc... If it passes the sniffer it passes... Good luck with the smog nazis!
