From what I understand from what you wrote, all I need to find is the motor I want that has/had a manual transmission and then my t98 will bolt on up. Does this mean that the bolt holes on all ford transmissions and the trans input shaft is the same diameter and length on all fords and has the same splines? It sounds too easy. I am obviously missing something in your messages, I need more. I am currently leaning toward a 390 to attach to my t98 ( a 460 would be a little tight in the engine compartment). The engine is a 460 w/ 429 heads, offie single plane intake, RV cam (no specs available). I was getting about 4-5 in. from the timed port and 19 in from the full port at idle (800rpm) with a Holley 750 . I have since swapped to an Edelbrock Performer model 1407 750cfm. Now I have 7" from the timed port and 18" from the full port. This is causing problems with my vacuum advance. My timing is set to 6 deg BTDC with the vac advance off, which equates to about 18 deg BTDC with the vac advance connected to the timed port of the carb. Isn't this too much advance too soon? The truck runs awful til I get about 4000 rpm, then it runs pretty good. Thanks for any help. The 351C was the one I was uncertain about. So the 351C has it's own pattern except for *a few* 400's? How inconveniant... Interesting, I'll update my memory banks. The stock cork gaskets can creep out of place either during installation or afterwards. The method marko describes here is the best way to go. The part about the surfaces being THOROUGHLY clean ain't no joke. Use brake clean, alcohol, whatever, to clean the sealing surfaces. If there's ANY oily residue left, it's not ready yet. Removing an FE intake AGAIN to correct an oil leak (or any other reason) ain't no fun... Happy motoring, Steve Delanty "There are 2 kinds of cars.
