Well I came across a drunk redneck in a similar truck to mine tonight. We
was weaving and going 35. The Explorer in front of me passed him. (He had
wired up taillights wrong, reverse lights were on all the time). I went to
pass him, and did, but he came up right behind me and passed me again, then
backed off to 35. I was pretty sure I was going to be faster, so I passed
him again, and sure enough he tried to prevent it but couldn't. (HA HA)
Anyway, at about 70, my clutch started slipping real bad, and upon
further testing down the road, my clutch starts slipping at that speed. So
the questions are:

What kind of clutch should I get? NP 435 tranny 4x4

The arm connected to the frame had holes in it for the shift linkage.
These holes are worn almost to the edge of the arm. Are replacement arms
available, or should I weld up the holes to just fit the bushing I already
have in there?

Obituary

A woman goes into the local newspaper office to see that the obituary for
her recently deceased husband is written. The obit. editor informs her that
the fee for the obituary is 50 cents a word. She pauses, reflects and then
says, Well then, let it read "Fred Brown died."

Amused at the woman's thrift, the editor tells her that there is a 7 word
minimum for all obituaries. Only a little flustered, she thinks thing over
and in a few seconds says,
In that case, let it read, "Fred Brown died: Ford Pickup for sale."

Hey Dennis,

We pop-riveted the plastic clip to the sheet metal. I had to replace one
whole bed side, and the new one didn't come with any trim attaching
"studs"....so, we took the old bed side, measured the old clip locations, and
drilled and "popped" the clips in place on the new one. I see where Colorado
Rick suggested putting silicone on both sides of the hole during this
operation, and I second the motion.....I'll be sure to do this next time!

I think you'll be OK as long as the C4 is a 6 bolt bell housing attachment.
You will probably need to use the flex plate from the 289, as there are 2
torque converter patterns/sizes. I ran into this when I used a 68 302 to a
77 C4. The later model torque converter has wider spaced studs that go into
the flex plate. Hope this helps. Good luck.

on the drivers side it appeared to be custom made but looked alot like the
later years saddle tanks. becouse of rust I got rid of that one before I
realized that it was not a stock piece of equipment. So what I need is a
tank that will work for this truck I'd be interested in buying one or if any of
you can recommend one that will fit that would be great also.

My boys and I bought the exact same truck. Formerly a Forest Service truck
it was even painted that lovely puke green color. Some one didn't like that
so they threw on a lime green metalic with no prep work what so ever.
Unfortunately the lower fenders were so cancer ridden that they decided to
go with a fleet side bed. The cab is now a very nice soverign blue and the
bed is nearly done.

junkyard said that he will sell the pair for $400.00 (Dana 60 Front & rear).
I usually buy all the Dana 60 fronts from him (Ford, Chevy, & Dodge), but I
have no need because I have too many. He will also not seperate the set....I
guess he got smart because I would only buy the fronts. I screwed it up for
myself....Oh well!! I have 5 for myself (all 78 & 79 Ford) that are tagged
to go into many of my "Projects". The junkyard is called "Sars Auto

1978 F-250 has a Dana 60 Front axel.....it was a snow Plow prep package?
Ford officially did not make a F-350 4x4 until 1979. If you need

Subject: Re: FTE 61-79 - I AM SO SCARED!!!!!!!

Now i was putting the distributor back in and
it wouldn't go all the way down so i turned it over so then it would pop
in
and it did, then i come to find out the timing is now way off so i have
been
trying to find the right spot for the distributor,

I haven't seen an answer to this part yet, so here goes. When you say
turned it over I am presuming you meant turned the engine over with the
starter or a socket on the crank, if this is not the case ignore the
rest of this post as it will not apply. If that is what happened you
have most likely got the distributor one or two teeth off. The way to
fix this is to find TDC and drop the distributor in to fire #1. The
steps are.

1 Turn the dist to its final position (where the vacuum can was before
you started)

2 Find #1 plug wire and mark it's position on the side of the dist

3 Remove dist and #1 plug

4 Turn engine over slowly while holding your thumb over #1 spark plug
hole when you feel pressure you are coming up on the compression
stroke. Then turn the engine until you line up on TDC (0)

5 Reinstall the dist so that the rotor lines up with the mark you made
for #1. From there you should be able to start the engine and time it to
spec.

Remember the center shaft rotates slightly as the cam gears are engaged
this is easy to see with the rotor installed. Anti seize on the dist
where it contacts the block is a good idea (as note by several people on
this list) and you can use a little (very little) moly lube on the
bottom of the dist gear. Wriggling the rotor gently may also help it
drop in.

Hope this helps
Dennis Dellinger

place to list this truck for sale? '66 F-100 Custom Cab w/ whatever V-8
it is that has "D2TEAA" stamped on the heads, a transplanted C-6, nearly
original interior, 75K original miles, very little rust, only a couple
dents, w/ 60's era aluminum slotted mags and 255-60-15 tires? Where
should I look to find out what to sell this for? It's running a little
rough, and life is such that like it or not, I'm better off selling it
and paying bills than I am watching it grow older and paler while I grow
older and broker. It's a sad decision indeed to have to make.... any
thoughts? Thanks for the directions in advance :)

Kathy
