All right boys and girls, time to play "Let's spend more of Stu's money"
on the FTE list!
This is getting way too costly but sometimes in life you just have to do it.

My short block and heads should be ready soon and I will need to compile
parts to continue with the engine assembly.
This is my first engine rebuild so please bear with me.

May I share what I have so far? A *balanced* 360 short block (had 87,243
original miles on it with .006 wear in bore) with Clevite 77 bearings and a
polished crank. Engine has been bored .030 and New Silv-O-Lite forged pistons
and an NOS Ford 360/390 truck cam will be used. The heads have been
refurbished with hardened seats and NOS valve springs and NOS lifters. (NO
comments please about being anal Jim E. ) All sheet metal has been vatted
and blasted when necessary and the oil pan will be tig welded where the
dipstick location is to prevent leaks. A new Ford replacement part
flywheel will also be used. Fel-Pro premium gaskets all the way around and
juts for an extra little bit of help breathing a K & N filter for the air
box (should be worth at least 45 to 50 hp right?)

A Melling high volume oil pump has been purchased and will be installed and
I aim to use a Ford replacement water pump and *new* Carter fuel pump.
This is where I am in need of help. Anyone have ideas on clutch brands,
timing gear brands/types and other miscellaneous parts I will need? What
am I forgetting??? Suggestions with your
reason why please. Sorry, I am one of those who needs a reason for
everything.....makes SWMBO insane!!!! hehehehe

It won't be a high horsepower engine but my target is a better than new,
rock solid, dependable driver that will outlast me. Thanks for the help!!

Subject: FTE 61-79 - 391FT to 351C engine swap

Hello , My name is Rollie and I am new to the list . I see there are
many knowledgeable people on this list and I need to know if anyone has
information on engine swaps . Specifically putting a 351 Cleveland into a
76 F 100 . It has a 391 FT currently with 428 cubic inches, ( originally
had a 360 from factory ) .This is more engine than I will ever need in
this truck .
I know that the transmission bolt pattern on the 351C block is the same
as the 302 and maybe a 351 windsor . So I wonder if the engine mount bolt
pattern is the same also . I could use the mounts from a truck that came
with a 302 or 351 W if this is true . Anyone have any information about
this ?
Any help will be appreciated .

I am going to go the route you layed out chainging over to a true
400 my 20 questions for the night are:
I want to use the 351c pistons if i buy new what would you
suggest using.(brand) or if i use stock out of a 351c are the pistons the
same dia or is there boring the block involved if there is then ill
buy new ones. and also where do i find these rod bushings for the 400 rods
to accomodate the 351c pistons.. my manuals have nothing abot 351c
so im lost.. what vehicles should i look into to find my 351c parts
cars? trucks? what would happen if i put the 400 crank in with the
351m pistons would i have a piston or head for a hood ornament the
351m block 4.00x3.50 in the 400 4.00x4.00 bore+stroke i feel stupid
asking this are the pistons the same length (skirt) its the crank
that determines the stroke is it not so wouldnt these pistons be the
same for the 2 engines.. whats the bore and stroke of the 351c? what
is the diff of the 351c to the 351m pistons?

Electrical shocks and me... i do have a after-market stereo in my
truck amp,subs,speakers,disk changer maybe thats whats giving me my
shock i dont know i just figured it was electrical because when its
wet or really damp my truck lets me know it acts up and doesnt want
to run worth a darn.... i was going to say S# but i caught myself
this time..
