Don't know when they started, but have a couple years nailed down.
I know for sure that '64's & '65's had them.
I snagged them at a wrecking yard recently when I
got the speedometer, well actually the whole instrument panel.

Sounds like a wide range of years had them, so shouldn't be too
hard to find. They are a pain to remove, that's why I took it when
I got the instrument panel, I didn't want to cut any wires, so it was
easier to take out the switch.

I know that the 73 and up do but am not sure about th 63. I would try to
contact the ford dealer and see if they have any answers if not I would get
a chiltons manual this usually has a pretty good breakdown on the
electrical. Might point you in the right direction.

Since we are talking about dash lights, does anyone know what year
the variable resistors were installed in the operation of the dash lights?
I am just trying to figure out if my '63 is suppose to have one.

Both my '61 and my '66 have them. Twist the headlight knob just like
any other truck. CCW is brighter, at full CCW there is a little stop
and past that the dome light comes on.

Eric,
I have spent 3 weeks calling yards, sent it to a rebuilder, who sent it back
because ford does not make parts. it is manual, and it has to be from a f100
4x4 only. I'm thinking retro fit so i don"t have to go trrough this again.

thanks dan
