I'm not sure this would have worked im my case, I was doing the vise
trick and I can hardly imagine that to be any harder on the yoke than
yours. It was just old and stuck and I got one cap off but the cross
did not have room to tilt out at that point so I had to push it back at
which point it got a little crooked and bound and the rest is history.
The spicer part cost $50, new, special order (same day...I love Nevada
City Auto Parts, in case you want to go there), so the old Chevy will
live to see many more days. In any case, funds are tight now so Ford
restoration has all but stopped around here. Would you believe that one
of the cups in the center U-joint (2-piece shaft) was missing all the
needles but the truck was still stable on the interstate? The thing
that made me change it was the squeaking noises.
