Hey all!!! I just made a GREAT trade. My dad just traded me his 1979
F-250, with an almost complete 429 Police Interceptor and a NP435, for my
'69 F-250 with a 360 and a c-6. I feel great!!! I have always loved his
truck, and now it is mine!!! So, my question is this. Can anyone give me
any ideas on customizing fairly inexpensively. The body is in decent shape,
but hasn't had anything done to it yet. Also, would be open to ideas on
custom paint jobs. I am thinking of painting it a base coat/clear coat
silver, with a grey and burgandy interior. Any suggestions? Comments?

Hey man, thanks for the little insight on parental thinking there. I guess
I will just have to live with sittin' at the ol' parts washer until I have
my own kids! Hahaha...thanks man.

Mike,
I can only (possibly) decode one number.
First, the "RUGC..."
All the RUGCs were close ratio 390 toploaders from Fairlanes and Torinos.
I saw a "RUGC1", but no "RUGCLBKs. Look at:
http:www.wrljet.com/engines/tranny.html. At the bottom of the page
it looks like Ford started using the RUGBJ in 1972. I don't know what
to make of the RUGCLBK... Is it a RUGC from 1968, or some 1972 hybrid?
The D8 is scary. Isn't that for 1978?

You can check your gear ratios by hand. Count the number of turns
the input shaft makes when you spin the output shaft ONCE by hand,
in each gear (i.e., with the tranny in 1st, the input shaft should spin
2.32
times, IF you have a close ratio toploader). You can do this for each
gear to see what you REALLY have (it is possible the case was rebuilt
w/ different gears).

I suggest calling Dan Williams in North Carolina. He will be able to tell
you
exactly what you have...
Good luck.

Check the ground connections on your left turn signal lamps. I've had
similar problems a few times, when the ground goes away the power goes
through both lamp filaments in series and backfeeds into the other circuit.
A good ground at the lamp fixes the problem. Both times for me it was the
lamp socket itself.

I'm not much help on the headlights.....maybe the switch or a fuse link? A
meter will help you find both problems much quicker. good luck!
