OK I think I'm on the right list now. I want to add power steering and
power brakes to my 65 F100. I have leg muscle drum brake all around and
arm muscle steering. Need some info on what parts I can get from the
salvage yard and what I need to buy new. I know about new springs and
holders and that stuff for the brakes. What aout disc brakes. Can I
convert easily? I'm greatful for any help

I think we need to set a time and place for everyone to meet
on Saturday. There is a very practical reason for this:

Pat, the promoter, is giving us booth space as a club,
for free. We show up Thursday morning and he gives us
space with all the other clubs. However, he reserved
to the right to refuse us space, "if we aren't good for
the sport."

Before anyone gets upset about this... Pat has been
taken advantage of in the past and he wants to make
sure we're for real. So, in the unlikely event that we
don't get a booth, we need to be able to get together.
It would be a shame if we didn't get to meet each other.

At the booth, I plan to have some brochures I've made
on the computer. Also, our window stickers and screen
shots from the web site.

Ken

I have never been to Pigeon Forge before, so I will leave it up to the
people that have been there before. So just let me know where, when and
how to get to this meeting place and I will see you there! :) :) :)

My research leads me to believe a good quality synthetic is the way
to go both for better wear and better performance. I'm going to try
Amsoil next time but there are several other good ones out there
somewhat cheaper. Use the 85-95 high pressure gear lube.

Looks like it a BW T-18 which is similar to the NP 435 with a granny
low gear.

Wish I could be there :-( All my projects are going to get in the
way and I haven't reserved a room so it's pretty much not going to
happen but I wish you all a safe and happy first get together. I'll
be thinking of y'all with a little tear in my eye............:-(

to go by myself and leave her home)

From: John Strauss
Subject: FTE 61-79 - Big Block C-4?

Sometimes on this list we see arguments about whether or not there ever was
a C-4 auto trans fitted to a big block (i.e. FE or 385) engine. Well, I
have run across a fairly good deal on a '68 F250 Camper Special that I am
thinking about getting. In my investigation, I wrote down the codes from
the door and looked them up in my book last night now. Now, I have 2 code
books, and the one at home (Ford Parts Identification Numbers or something
of the like) said the Trans code of "G" was "3-speed Automatic (C-4)" so
I'm thinking, "No way, these people don't know what they are talking about"
because it's the ONLY automatic listed, and these trucks came with up the
the 390 FE engine (my particular example has a 360, dammit, I was hoping it
was a 390). So I figure I'll consult my trusty Ford Red Book when I get to
work this morning, but, lo and behold, the Red Book says the SAME THING.
Not only for '68, but also '67 and '69. Funnier still, the Ranchero shows
both C-4 and C-6, so it's not like they didn't have any choice or something.

So, for anybody who owns one of these trucks or knows of them, are the
books correct? Was the C-4 the only auto trans from '67-'69 and was it
mated to the FE blocks? Or are these books both working from the same
wrong info? I wish I had crawled up under this truck and looked but I just
figured if it had a C-6 because it was an FE. The truck is about an hour
from my house so it may be a while before I see it again. Anybody know the
poop?

First off, are you sure it's a 390? If so that is not the original engine.
The only V8 offered in the F100 for '67 was the 352. It is also in the FE
family and looks just like a 390 externally. Also, a REAL '67 Ranger 4WD
would be a pretty rare truck whatever engine is in it - you may want to put
a 352 back in there to keep it original.
